He has overcome insurmountable odds throughout his life and his experiences make him an expert on dealing with challenge. He readily admits that it is his attitude to life that has made all the difference; His 'I Can' attitude. Challenge, obstacles, adversity, setbacks, hurdles and change can not be avoided. On a cold and misty morning in October 1975, Richard, aged 5 woke up to discover his Mother was gone. She was the first victim of the notorious Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe. His life changed forever. This tragedy was to trigger decades of deprivation, abuse, pain, suicide pacts, drugs, prison and a lost childhood until Richard decided to step up and that he
would change his life. The first step was the write Just A Boy which knocked Robbie Williams' biography off the number one spot in 2005 and went on to sell almost 400 000 copies and has been translated around the world. He is now a sought after motivational speaker focusing on the key strategies that helped him grow beyond survival and create a better life. Setting goals, finding internal courage, recognising your beliefs and those of others and taking action are just a few of his enlightening subjects.
