About

Adam Gray is a speaker and strategist on Social Media and how businesses can and should use it. He talks about his experiences helping some of the largest brands in the UK communicate and how particularly risk averse businesses can use social media in a smart way to gain a competitive advantage.

Biography

Although Adam studied as a violinist (music is still a passion) early on he moved in to the commercial world starting his first business whilst in his early 20s opposite (and competing with) Harrods in Knightsbridge. Here, he realised that marketing was a crucial element to success. After selling the business he focused on marketing for others and has spent his entire career since helping companies to get their message across – but as an entrepreneur his advice has always been based on results and delivery not theory.

It is this results-focused attitude, which led him to work with some of the biggest brands in the UK including Starbucks, Canon, Green Flag, T-Mobile, Unilever, Coutts Bank, Prudential, Deutsche Bank, Sainsbury's and BAA helping them create and deliver compelling messages.

However, this results-driven attitude meant that with the rise of social media he didn’t feel that he could work with ‘traditional’ marketing techniques any longer and his talks often explain why these old techniques are failing but too many business prefer the ‘better the devil you know’ mindset.

Speaking

For the last 5 years or so Adam has been working exclusively in the realm of social media helping organisations exploit the opportunities it creates and teaching them to understand the perceived and real risks in this new world.

Adam’s talks inspire, educate and motivate organisations to use social media and many audiences feel that his talks are the catalyst for them to take the plunge.

However, Adam teaches that social media isn’t a panacea for all ills, nor is it something that will automatically add benefit. Just like any other business function – education, a plan, monitoring and measurement are cornerstones to success.

Adam is a true expert in this field and is delighted to take as many questions from the floor as there may be.
